THE POSITION
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), a six-time National Recreation and Parks Association Gold Medal Award Winner, is seeking a Park Planning and Environmental Stewardship Program Manager to work in the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation. This critical and strategic position serves as the second-level manager (Assistant Division Chief) of the Planning and Land Acquisition sections, significantly impacting park facility development programs throughout Prince George's County. The Park Planning and Development Division manages the team implementing the Department's substantial Capital Improvement Program through land acquisitions, public-private partnerships, facility planning, data analysis, research, GIS mapping, and design of parks and recreation facilities throughout the County.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Park Planning and Environmental Stewardship units, ensuring substantial County-wide impact. Establish work program goals and objectives for the units, enforce work standards, and manage unit budgets. Serve as Assistant Division Chief, supervising 3rd level managers and acting as Division Chief when needed. Coordinate projects with other Commission units and various stakeholders. Plan and manage projects, including the preparation of CIP requests for land acquisition and park development. Review and approve RFPs, IFBs, contracts, and other procurement documents. Stay informed of regulations, policies, standards, and technology in assigned program areas. Develop community outreach protocols for park and facility planning. Communicate effectively with business contacts, establishing and maintaining working relationships with various stakeholders. Perform a full range of supervisory human resource management functions.
